Environmental Policy
In order to create any effective program, perhaps the most difficult and important task is to set a foundation for action. This is just as true for environmental programs as it is for any other business initiative.
To set a good foundation for our long-term environmental strategy at Office Depot, we have implemented a three-step approach to integrate environmental thinking into our organization. We have focused our efforts to date in the U.S. and Europe, with a view to expand the scope globally over the next three years.

Tracking Policy Implementation & Performance
We believe a policy is ineffective unless there are ways to actually confirm it is being implemented. To do so, we have created a unique tool: our Environmental Dashboard. This connects our policy with initiatives and assigns functions that are accountable for implementation. The dashboard also shows a concise set of Environmental Key Performance Indicators (eKPIs) that are tracked and reported annually.
