Contract customers for Office Depot are large corporations, government organizations and educational institutions. Much of the demand for greener products and solutions has come from these customers, as we serve some of the most environmentally aware organizations in the world.
We have been at the forefront of delivering innovative green solutions for contract customers for many years. In 2003, we created the office industry's first Green Book – a solution that had been copied by nearly every major competitor by 2008.
We have now brought all our green solutions under one theme directly relevant to our customers and our brand: the "Greener Office." We delivered a number of solutions based on this platform:
- A "Greener Office" vignette that brings together all types of products – supplies, furniture and technology - to help explain what a greener office looks like.
- The new Office Depot Green™ brand, designed in consistent packaging to simplify green purchasing for contract customers.
- Small Steps to a Greener Office: A webcast and presentation developed with Joel Makower, one of the "gurus of green business," to help set the context for the environmental trends in the business world, and provide detailed advice on how to go green at the office.
- A Greener Alternatives Tool to help customers convert from virgin to remanufactured or recycled products.
- "Green Customer Awards," which are presented to Office Depot’s greenest customers.
