Tech Recycling Service
Office Depot offers its Tech Recycling Service across the US. This program, which was designed as a solution for retail customers to dispose of unwanted electronics, is beautiful in its simplicity. Three different sizes of boxes are offered that can be filled with a wide range of obsolete technology items and dropped off at any Office Depot store in the mainland US. The technology is then sent to a recycling plant to be crushed, and raw materials are extracted using a shredding process. The most common materials recovered are glass, plastic, copper and aluminum.
We also continue to provide a free recycling program for cell phones and rechargeable batteries.
Tech Solutions
As part of our strategic move to become a solution provider rather than just a seller of products, Office Depot started piloting a range of technology services in 2007. This included computer repairs, wireless network installation, and software and television installation. These solutions help "dematerialize" our revenue sources and reduce our environmental impact.
